ADSO Configuration - Master Data Check

Hi,

 

In ADSO we can select configuration for each characteristic to specify Master Data Check - see below image.

I found that SID's are generated for that characteristic only if option 3 and 4 (i.e. Check during load/activation or Persist SID in DataSource) are selected. But, if I select option 2 i.e. Master Data Check During Reporting, I am unable to select the values loaded in selection screen of report. Also, I cannot do a filter on those values in output as it gives error master data does not exist.

 

I am wondering why this option is given and why is it at characteristic level and not ADSO level. I have 30 chars in my ADSO and have to select it individually. In what scenario will I not want to create SID? Or are SID's optional now on BW on HANA?

While I am giving the connection between SAP HANA STUDIO & MS Sequel Server by Smart Data Access we are getting the given below error message.

 

Error Message: Parameter 'Data Source Name' cannot be empty.

 

Please help us in resolving this error .

Compression, Index and Rollup of Cube after HANA migration

Hi to all,

 

 

I just want to know do we required bellow steps after SAP BW on HANA migration from MSSQL database.

 

 

1. Compression of Cube

 

2. Cube Index Deletion and Creation.

 

3. Aggregated and Rollup steps of Aggregates at Cube.

 

4. BWA of CUBE.

 

Can we get PDF or Doc which can explain , does we required or not these 4 steps after SAP BW on HANA migration.

 

And thus change our process chain according to it.

Is there any concerns on moving transport requests from BW 7.4 SP13 on Oracle DB to BW 7.4 SP13 on HANA DB?

We have a BW production sustainment composed by  Dev, QA and Prod.  They are all BW 7.4 SP13 on HANA DB SP10.

 

Due to infrastructure limitations and upcoming BW projects.  In the current scenario, we don’t have how accommodate the projects in the BW production sustainment system  Dev, QA and Prod.

 

They are proposing to use BW 7.4 SP13 on Oracle DB and later import the Transport Requests in the BW 7.4 SP13 on HANA DB  Dev.

 

NOTE: ALL the SAP components on BW 7.4 SP13 on Oracle DB and BW 7.4 SP13 on HANA DB are exactly the same.  The only difference between the BW systems is the database.

 

Does anyone tried this approach?

 

Is this approach/solution something that could actually be recommended?

 

Is there any concerns on moving transport requests from BW 7.4 SP13 on Oracle DB to BW 7.4 SP13 on HANA DB?

Advanced DSO creation

    hi,

 

We need to create huge number of ADSO - as you know frm 7.4/7,5 adso is only generated in eclipse based modelling which takes time in creation.

 

Any other quick way to get this created via some program ?

ADSO Export datasource

Hi, experts.

 

Currentrly we use standard DSOs with generated export datasources (8<dsoname>) to synchronize two BW instances (one is a master system and it replicates some datamarts to another BW system).

I wanted to use a new ADSO as a modelling unit but stuck at the sync step, because there's no menu entry to create export datasource for ADSO.

 

What is the option to expose BW ADSO to another BW system for consumption? We have no SLT or any other tool.

Composite provider based on calc view with mandatory variable

Hi Experts

 

I am trying to create a composite provider based on a calculation view that has a mandatory input variable (not parameter). When I try to activate the composite provider I get the error meaasge in the picture below. How do I "assign" this variable? Can this variable be forwarded to a BEx variable in any way?

How to add new calculated columns in composite provider

Hello Experts,

 

As part of requirement I have created 2 calculated columns in my calculated view and I can see data against those 2 columns in calculation view.

Now the issue is, I have composite provider based on this calculation view and I unable to see those 2 calculated columns in my composite provider.

I am not able to edit or add 2 newly created calculated columns in composite provider.

 

Please suggest next actions.

Data Integration from HANA DB (Only) --> to APO

Hello All,

 

I have scenario where I have a HANA DB (only HANA Database), which I access through studio, it is not BW on HANA system.

And I have got ECC,CRM,APO systems with traditional DB's setup for replication to HANADB via SLT.

 

Like as shown below...

 

ECC -->(SLT)--> HANADB

CRM -->(SLT)--> HANADB

APO -->(SLT)--> HANADB

 

Now that I am getting the required data from all 3 SAP systems to HANADB.

 

My requirement is I need to some data out of HANADB (NOT BW ON HANA) to get replicated to SAP APO systems.

 

Just to be a little clear, its like a setup of Export Datasource from traditional BW HANA system to APO system.

But in our scenario we don't have BW on HANA its just HANADB we want data  replication done from HANADB to APO system.

 

Like

 

HANADB --> APO.

 

Kindly Note: If SLT can perform the integration like APO --> SLT --> HANADB, please keep in mind we should consider

                   medium to high data loads.

 

Can any of you provide your inputs on this scenario if its possible and if so how to proceed.

BW powered by Hana: Bex Performance

Hi all,

After migration from DB2 to HANA we have received the same performance of bex query (don't have virtual characteristics & KF in bex).

On print screens from RSRT (bex trace) you can see what some of components reduce the time run , but one of them increased essential it is Olap:Read Text .

Somebody can explain why does it happen and how can we reduce Olap Read Text time?

How to configure ODP extraction?

Hi experts.

 

 

Someone have a document about How implementing ODP extraction in SAP BW 7.5 SP1 powered on HANA using standard extractors?.

 

 

The SAP Basis created the ODP conection and now I'm trying to use an standard extractor 0PLANT_TEXT, but when I executed, It just runs as Dialog in ECC, but don't return data, and It keeps in yellow status for a long time without finish.

Hi,

 

Need help in validating facts related to SAP BW NLS process specifically if Automated Backup is OPTIONAL in SAP BW 7.4 (SP13)?

 

In some documents, it states that this step triggering incremental backup in Sybase IQ side is optional but the docs are mostly SAP BW 7.3.

 

Does this still hold true for 7.4?

how to start re init for ODP enable data source via SLT

Hi Gurus,

 

I am loading data from

ERP->SLT->BW 7.5 (ODP), so for some tables init was done but later on I need to do re init again - please can someone advice what steps to take in SLT and BW for this.

 

As re init is not happening and replication getting failed in SLT but log does not shows error.

How to edit composit provider

Hello Experts,

 

I have composite provider(XX_CP01) based on calculation view(XX_CV1)

 

Now I have included 2 calculation columns in calculation view(XX_CV1)

but I am not able to include these 2 calculation columns in existing composite provider(XX_CP1)

by editing. So please suggest next steps to edit composite provider.

Slow Performance with Virtual Provider on BW 7.4

Dear all,

 

We have a large number of virtual providers connecting to our APO system.  I converted one of the DataSources to version 7, but now the performance is very slow.

 

The access method is direct access using DTP.  I noticed that when I use LISTCUBE the APO Location (Plant) filter is ignored and all values are selected, even though APO Location is enabled for "Selection" on the DataSource.  However, the Version and Calendar filters do work.  When using LISTCUBE on a similar DataSource but using 3.x the APO Location filter does work.

 

When running a query on this virtual provider connected to a version 7 DataSource the data is filtered by APO Location, but the performance is slow.  So it appears that the full data set is transferred from APO to BW and then filtered by APO Location at the query level.

 

Can anyone help or provide some tips or suggestions on why this is and ways to improve performance?

SAP HANA ODBO driver download

Hi,

 

I have already running eclipse (MARS) and the BW modelling Tools as well as the hana Tools by download.

Everthing is fine, except the ODBO driver for the SAP HANA MDX Providers, due to the fact that I have taken the eclipse plugins instead of the Hana Client Installation.

 

I have browsed the Internet but haven't found a site where I can easily download the relevant driver for Excel acces on HANA vies.

 

Is there anybody out there who knows a link to a secure download site for this xxx driver.

enable NLS for BO Universe reports

Hi,

 

I am looking for options to enable SAP NearLine-Storage NLS for BO Universe reports.

BO universe is built on top of DSO's and already "use nearline storage" option is enable for DSO but still BO reports are not able to fetch NLS data.

Appreciate your responses on this.
